Webb20 juli 2024 · Psycho-functionalism is closely tied to the emergence of cognitive psychology in the late 1960s and maintains that mental states and processes are entities (constructs) that are defined by the role they play in cognitive psychological theories. They may be tied to brain structures and processes, but this is not a requirement. Although it never became a complete branch of psychology, it laid the foundations for many later movements, most notably behaviorism and cognitive-behavioral psychology.
